These are two separate tools that can be quickly used online, but do not include options to select for breeding. Location data is from a nearby weather station and is not as accurate as the downloadable FlyBoss Flystrike Risk Simulator. Both of these programs make adjustment for:
- management options such as shearing, crutching
- breech modification
- chemical preventive treatments, including optimising the timing of treatments;

To work out when your sheep are most at risk of strike, based on shearing and crutching time and the normal long term weather pattern for your region. Select the optimum time to apply treatment, based on your usual shearing and crutching schedule. Click on Location to select or change the weather records for your chosen region.
Optimise Treatment Tool User Guide
- Select Optimise Treatment to determine when your sheep are most at risk of strike, based on shearing and crutching time and the normal long term weather pattern for your region.
- Enter your shearing and crutching dates using the drop down menus.
- Select the breech modification
- Enter the chemical treatments and treatment times
- Click Calculateto produce a graph showing the average flystrike risk relative to the highest risk period for your area based on your selections.
- Click Optimise timing of treatments to find the treatment date that will minimise strike risk over the whole year.
To compare management systems with different shearing and crutching schedule and different chemical protective treatment or different breech modification alternatives. Click on Location to select or change the weather records for your chosen region.
Compare Management User Guide
- Select Compare Management to Compare two management systems for flystrike control
- Enter your current management system in the first column and the management system you want to compare in the second column.
- Click Compare management to produce a graph comparing Management System 1 with Management System 2. The graph shows the average flystrike risk of each management system.
